Summary[ ]

English: A scene of youths boxing on a Panathenaic amphora from Ancient Greece, circa 336 B.C, Archonship of Pythodelus. The figure on the right, instead of the usual judge, is the goddess Victory (a.k.a. Nike). The original image which was scanned (and slightly brightened by me using software) can be located in: Gardiner, E. Norman (1864-1930), Greek Athletic Sports and Festivals, London: MacMillan, 1910, p. 407, Fig. 135
